Knit until it Fits

With Paulette Lane

Sunday September 27 2009

11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. and
2:00 p.m.  - 4:00 p.m.

Start with one stitch.  No tension swatch required.  Based on Debbie New’s technique as seen in her book Unexpected Knitting, learn how to knit a pullover, cardigan or vest starting with only one stitch.  Learn a quick and easy neck shaping technique that can be used on most styles of pullovers.

This technique is also known as “knit until it’s big enough” or dishcloth knitting, even though it goes far beyond the basic diagonally knit dishcloth.  Debbie New’s designs stop at vests where Paulette knit sleeves to produce cardigans and pullovers and uses a simple gusset technique for neck shaping.

This technique is suitable for children’s garments, adults as well as dolls, teddy bears and other stuffed toys.  Also a good technique for bags, lap robes or afghans.

Paulette Lane is a passionate knitter who has been designing since 1984 and teaching since 1999.  She achieved her master knitter designation through the Knitting Guild of Canada in 1999.  Founder and editor of the West Coast Knitters’ News for the West Coast Knitters’ Guild, she is the Knitting Doctor at the meetings helping members with their knitting challenges.  Her focus has been on sharing information with knitters. To raise the level of awareness of knitting and encourage new knitters, young and old, male and female, to find their own reward in two sticks and some string.

Her patterns have been published by KnitNet, the online knitting magazine www.knitnet.com and are included in Briggs and Little’s Knits from the North Country.  She was the Editor of Accord Publishing’s Page-a-Day Knitting Calendars for 2005-2007.  Paulette creates personalized patterns for knitters and sells kits, patterns, and booklets under the name, PLANE Images.
