Top Down Socks
We'll use Tin Can Knits' simple but elegant Rye Sock pattern to teach the basics of top down sock construction. Techniques include stretchy cast on, heel flaps, short row heel turns, gusset pick up and decreases, and the important Kitchener stitch for grafting the toe (and a little history on this useful skill). Along the way you'll build confidence in reading your knitting and fixing mistakes, and learn tips for choosing a good sock yarn and caring for your socks.

Please download the free Rye sock pattern by Tin Can Knits from Ravelry prior to the start of class.
Please bring 2.75mm and 3.5mm circular (for magic loop or two circular needle method) or double pointed needles, 100 to 200 grams of dk weight sock yarn depending on size you are making, stitch markers, darning needle, notebook, and pencil to the first class.
