National Knit in the Park Day

Recreation Centre
by the tennis courts
11:00am until 3:00pm
This year we had a hot sunny day but everyone stayed
cool under the big tree by the creek.
When you turn off Spall Road as you enter Parkinson
Recreation Centre parking lot you will see the tennis courts on your
right hand side.
Walk past the tennis court and you will see us just before the bridge
over the creek.
The area is very well shaded with a park bench, if you forget your
chair.
Washrooms are available in the main building, as
well as, vending machines if you need a drink.

What a difference in the weather this year!
Although the temperature was 30+°C
sitting under the trees by the creek it was lovely and cool - perfect
knitting weather.
Becky and Chris are sitting on the bench and then from left to right -
Nicola, Darleen, Charlotte, Julie (Darleen's friend visiting from
England), Beth and Kath (my Mum).

Nelson - Lakeside Park from 10ish until about 4pm or so
Vancouver - Stanley Park at the covered picnic shelter (near the
miniature railway)
from 9am until 4pm
Campbell River - Ostler Pak downtown Campbell River from 11am up 2pm

When we were looking for a location for Knit in the Park Day we
were
concerned about finding somewhere that wouldn't be too hot as we
had been experience weather in the mid to high 30°C (90-100°F).
On Friday August 14 we had a record rain full! Now we are
not complaining
because we needed the rain and it helped to get the Terrace
Mountain fire
more contained. On Saturday when I arrived at the Park it
was a little
damp but because we were under the trees, even when it rained,
we didn't
get wet, maybe, a little damp occasionally! But we're
knitters, what's a little
rain? We had a great day and I know I'm really looking
forward to next year.
