Community Service Knitting

Giving back to the community is a long time tradition at Kelowna Yarn & Needlecrafts. We are actively knitting for two community knitting projects this summer. Information on each project is located below. As the seasons change additional projects will be added.

Please consider donating a knitted item to one of these worthy programs. We collect items in the store year round.
Knitted Knockers of Canada

Knitted Knockers of Canada provides soft, comfortable, knit prosthetics to breast cancer survivors at no cost. Our knockers are knit from super soft Ultra Pima cotton from Cascade Yarns, embroidered with a little heart for love, and donated to women here in the Okanagan Valley receiving treatment through the BC Cancer Agency.

Maggie's Hat

This hat was lovingly designed by prior owner, Anne Hearnden, for a long time customer, Maggie, when she was undergoing chemotherapy. The creation and donation of these comfortable, soft hats continues today.

We make our hats from CoBaSi fingering, a soft and colourful blend of cotton, bamboo, silk, and elastic. They are donated locally to the BC Cancer Agency in Kelowna. The pattern is provided on Anne Hearnden.com or follow this link: http://www.annehearnden.com/1405a%20Maggie'%20Summer%20Hat%204.pdf
