You will start with a circular needle learning how to keep track of the right and wrong side, increase stitches using two different methods and then working on double pointed needles you will follow a chart and work cable and lace panels before decreasing using a double decrease. If there is something you would like to learn that is not on the current schedule please let me know. Anne
November 2010 I just can't say no! Lots of new knitting patterns and some cross stitch designs as well. For the stitches we have Sue Coleman's new Black Bear, Puppies! from Lisa Overduin and from X's and Oh's we have Santa's Helper. Where to start with the new knitting patterns? Well, Lucy Neatby's workshops were incredible, lots of new ideas and techniques and some patterns. You can see some pictures in the Photo Album. In the Miscellaneous section from Lucy Neatby we have double knitting scarves, the Spindrift Scarf which is full of holes that are made with a great yarn over technique, and then there's the Christmas Stocking full of different stitches and techniques. I have a couple of new photos in the Photo Album a pair of socks I knit last June and my Lace Panel shawl, I must remember to take some more pictures! Anne
October 2010 Lots of new patterns in our Miscellaneous Patterns two shoulder shawls, the Loop de Loop Shawl which is a great way of using up all those partial balls we have and Just "Pooling" Around tells you how to manipulate hand-dyed yarns so the colours do what you want them to do. There are two patterns for hats using the Aspire Super Chunky, these are one evening projects and then there's the Circle of Life Shawl, on my list of projects to do! There is also a new knitted moccasin slipper pattern with an option to add beads or embroidery. In the Kids Patterns a book for the 8 - 18 year olds from Cabin Fever which includes hats, jackets and a sweater, also from Cabin Fever a leaflet with a plain top down sweater using double knitting weight yarn. Knitting down means you have an option to add to the length of the sweater later on if you need to. For Adults Patterns we have a jacket knit sideways, a quick to knit shrug in chunky yarn, Fiber Trends Classic Hearts which is knit in the round with subtle hearts in the yoke and from Cabin Fever Delicious Diamonds knit from the top down using just a touch of ribbing so this sweater fits just right. New yarns, well yarn we have had for a while and I have finally added shade cards! From Pingouin we have Le Yarn 3 which is 80% acrylic and 20% wool which gives it some body. This yarn is machine washable and when I use a 4.5mm (US7) needle my gauge is 20sts and on a 5mm (US8) my gauge is 18sts. From Kertzer, as well as Marble and Marble Chunky, we have Northern and Northern Chunky which are both 100% acrylic and the Northern Chunky colours are designed to work with the Marble Chunky. One new yarn we have added is Aspire Super Chunky from Naturally this alpaca and wool blend is, not only super chunky, but super soft as well. A couple of new pictures in the photo album to show how the Naturally Aspire Super Chunky knits. For the stitchers from Sue Coleman we have the Rufus Hummingbird. Anne

Brett and Stylecrafts and a new yarn from Zealana From Kertzer we have a book for men with sweaters and a vest in Northern Chunky, a book for the ladies knit in sock weight yarn and a book for hats, scarves and mittens. There are two new leaflets with crochet afghans. We have added Zealana's Rimu 8ply (New Zealand for DK) to our store. This yarn from New Zealand is 60% New Zealand Merino and 40% Possum and does not look it's best on the ball it needs to be knit so that it can bloom. I've added some photos of a scarf to the photo album, if you look closely you can see the halo surrounding the scarf - this yarn is incredible. We have a new free pattern, the Diagonal Rib Scarf is knit from the new Marks & Kattens Alpaca, a simple rib pattern knit on 8mm needle this scarf took me just two evenings to knit. I won't be in the store on October 6 and 7 as I am going to Vernon to take some workshops with Lucy Neatby, I am very excited about this. Stephen will be in the store to help and answer, most, of your questions. There are more patterns to be added, I will let you know as soon as they are up. Anne
September 2010 The new class schedule is now available. New classes this year are the Lace and Bead scarf which is knit using the Winter Lace Scarf pattern from Queen Anne's Lace and I designed a new hat for the Fairisle Bulky Hat class. The pattern is called Take Three Hats and the hats are knit using Country Roving which is an alternative wool for the old White Buffalo. New yarns and patterns have started to arrive, this is part one of I'm not sure how many. Today we have new yarns from Marks and Katten there are new colours in the Fame Trend and a new colourway with the Fame Rand just look at the long socks pattern to see how the colours look. Alpaca Silk is 70% Baby Alpaca and 30% Silk with a gauge of 28sts on 3mm needle, it is so soft and has a wonderful sheen to it, hmmmm what am I going to knit first - the lace scarf or the fingerless gloves or maybe crochet the shawl! The other new yarn is called Alpaca and is 100% Superfine Alpaca, you have to touch this to believe it, it is so, so soft. I'm still waiting for the patterns to go with this yarn but as it is a chunky I could use my Chunky Hat pattern or maybe it should be a scarf. From SandnesGarn there are new colours for Alpakka, Alfa and Smart, all of these yarns are used in the new book from SandnesGarn ung mix (young mix) which includes everything from head to toe! Hats, scarves, jackets, sweaters short and long, dresses and socks. The new yarns we have this season from Marks & Katten is Iceland a wool blend yarn that knits to 12st and looks like it is covered in snowflakes, see the patterns in the Adult Patterns. SandnesGarn has Chili, something a little different for scarves, and Soft Mohair a beautiful soft variegated mohair that knits to 12sts. Finally from almedhals we have Mohair Lux, look at the ladies cardigan pattern to see how the colours run in this yarn. Anne &%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%" March 2005 Wow - has it really been over a year since I did any major changes - how times flies. I've been working on the web page over the last couple of months - in the yarn section we now have Mission Falls from Ontario and Fleece Artist from Nova Scotia. New from Briggs & Little in New Brunswick is Country Roving an excellent alternative for the now discontinued White Buffalo. The Kelyarn kids patterns and kits have been re-size to make the finished size a little smaller but still with growing room, the kits are also available in the Country Roving. You can see patterns by designer Mags Kandis for her Mission Falls 1824 Superwash Merino Wool in both the Kids and Adults pattern sections. In the Misc Pattern section is the wonderful new book Knits from the North Country this book was ten years in the making, it features all Canadian designers using Briggs and Little's wools for their designs. There are new designs from Sue Coleman and Lynn Blaikie from Studio Art Needlework and under Stitching Kits we have the Hearts of Canada series from Victoria Sampler. I have included a few more pictures in our photo album. As always, if you have any questions or you find anything not working on the web page please e-mail me at kelyarn@kelyarn.com or call (250) 860 8801. Anne &%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%" February 2004
It's been a busy winter and with Spring on the way I have added some more of
Cabin Fever patterns to the adult pattern section
www.kelyarn.com/adults_patterns.htm most of these designs are knit in the
round which means when you have finished knitting you are done - no sewing
pieces together! Look at the cute Swirling Sun Hat pattern from Canadian
designer Lucy Neatby
www.kelyarn.com/misc_patterns.htm - I knit this using the Ecoknit organic
cotton. Ecoknit cotton is grown in Peru without the use of pesticides, the
cotton is grown in colour! so no dyes have been added
www.kelyarn.com/yarn.htm On the stitching side we have two new Canadian companies Ourheirloom Inc and Studio Art Needlework two quite different styles but both with native influences. If you are planning to visit us please remember that we are closed on Sundays and Mondays and this year we are taking our vacation from June 19 and re-open on Friday July 2. Please let me know if any of the links are not working or I have the wrong picture in the wrong place! Thank you.

August 2002 Anne &%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%" April 2002 Well, I've been tinkering again, I've changed the layout of some of the pages and added more information to the knitting patterns and kits. In the Stitching Charts Page 2 I have added a new hardanger design by Northern Designs as well as some more charts. There are several new designs from Stitcher's Habit including Discover Wildlife - every parent can relate! Victoria Sampler has new designs including Friends are Treasures Sampler designed by Yvonne Reitsma who is know for her silk ribbon designs. In the Miscellaneous Knitting Patterns there is a new shawl from Lucy Neatby and her excellent book Taking the Chequered Flag - Finishing in Style, if you have ever used one of Lucy Neatby's patterns you will know she gives excellent directions and this is true in her book. Also new in the patterns are some more of Woodsmoke Woolworks hats, and from a new Canadian company Woolen Earth some bulky weight hats. We have a new wool from Counting Sheep Inn called Cindy-Lou, I used this 4ply fingering weight wool to make gloves this Christmas and a Fiber Trends Sheep Shawl, as soon as Stephen's camera is working again I will have pictures. Have you ever used Eucalan Woolwash? They now have a new addition to the family - same great product now with the delicate fragrance of Lavender. As usual, we will be taking our vacation the beginning of July, dates are on the Home Page as well as information on a display by the Okanagan Guild of Needle Arts at the Centennial Museum here in Kelowna (I have submitted seven pieces including the Sampler shown in our Photo Gallery). Please have a look at the web page and do let me know if something isn't working as it should. Anne &%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%" January 2002 I've been making some minor changes which I hope will make the web page easier to read and navigate. There is a whole new page for our Photo Gallery - this is a small selection of some of the items Stephen and I have made. I have add two new free patterns. In the Knitting section is Kath's Socks and in the Stitching section you will find Lynn Nicoletti's Canadian Teddy. On each Links pages you will find that I have added some more links. We wish you all a Happy New Year. Anne and Stephen &%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%" November 2001 Well I've finally made some changes - the biggest change is that I'm now making the changes myself! So, if you find anything not working, spelt wrong, or just not right - please let me know and I will do my best to fix it. In the Knitting section I have add some new wool from a small farm and bed and breakfast in Mission, British Columbia. These are available in their natural colour only and are limited editions as each year a different yarn is produced. Amanda is an Aran weight which gives very good stitch definition and body, in Sami you can feel the natural oils from the wool and Imagine is a soft spun light and airy wool. In the Stitching section under Charts Page One you will find some new charts from X's and Oh's. Now that I have the programs to do it myself updates will be on a more regular basis.
&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%" April 2001 We are now in our new location and if
you are planning to visit don't forget we will be on vacation the beginning of
July. On the Stitching side new charts from new Canadian designers In Stitching Misc we have added
DMC needles and Floss A Way bags On the Knittingside new from Kettle Valley Fiber Company is
Summerland a high mohair yarn which makes it hard wearing and very suitable for
super warm socks. &%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%"&%" September 2000 Knitting Stitching Places to go from here
